Some Tips in Getting Your Children to Behave
It is undeniable that every parent would strive to become a good parent and at least have a good-enough parenting skill to face the challenges in raising a child, and for this fact, books were written to help parents in this very important role.
One thing for sure though, nobody is perfect however a parent try, and it may just be a myth to strive to become a super or the ultimate parent to a child. Since we want our children to have the very best in life, even if we strive to be just enough parent there are things that we can do and attitudes to adopt that will make our children more than just average and at the same time make our lives fulfilling and easier at the same time.
Your first tip as a parent is to recognize that you are just human, meaning you cannot do everything, you cannot be everywhere, you cannot know everything, and you can commit mistakes. Parents have their own issues, problems and hang-ups, and the key to this imperfection is to have the right attitude. Among the right attitude to adopt is to be humble, to forgive yourself for your mistakes, to celebrate for the successes you made, to learn from the past, and to focus your sight in moving forward.
Another advice in parenting is to realize that you are only playing a certain percentage of the whole life of your child. You are not the only factor in the upbringing of your child because there are outside variables that surround them when they are out of your sight, from influences of friends, teachers, television, magazines, social media, internet, and so on.
We should realize as parents that our children are not the only things that matter in our lives, and so when making decisions, the whole impact on the family as a whole is to be considered.
Looking at the positive sides of your children, like understanding that they too can commit mistakes, is one pointer in parenting. Forgiving them fast, correcting them gently and move on, and recognizing the things they did right than the wrong, are some parenting attitudes.
To get your children to behave, it is important that as a parent you stick to your guns so they say and believe in yourself. Whenever children make a challenge to a parent’s decision, given that the decision is what is right for them, do not be swayed as a parent and learn how to say no to your kids. Yes parents do sometimes make a bad decision, but sticking to your decision will show your children who you deal with life, how you make decisions, how you cope up uncertainties, and in standing up for yourself will set a good example to our children.
