What Circumcision is All About
In male circumcision, there is surgery involved, and it is aimed at removing the foreskin that covers that tip of the male organ. The natural and retractile covering of the glans of the male organ is what is called the prepuce. The decision to have someone circumcised is usually driven by culture, religion, preferences and personal beliefs. The circumcision procedure can be done to a male child before they leave the hospital. Because of the various measures that have been laid out by hospitals, you find out that a majority of male babies are normally circumcised when leaving the hospital. Traditions, religion and hygienic reasons are some of the contributing factors on why parents insist on having their male children to be circumcised.
Other reasons that are not common for making parents to circumcise their male children includes family customs and peer pressure. Male circumcision is a practice that began long time ago, and it is widely practiced. Doctors and other medical personnel agree that there are many benefits of cutting the prepuce of the male reproductive organ. One of the benefits on why you need to get circumcised is so that you will not get the infections that are normally linked to the urinary tract. Research shows that the number of circumcised boys who will get a tract infection is small compared to those who are not. Indications show that the men who are circumcised are less likely to suffer from a condition which is known as penile cancer compared to the other group of men who are uncircumcised.
Research reveals that the presence of the prepuce is what leads to the likelihood of the occurrence of sexually transmitted diseases because it can hide some of the viruses. It is believed that cutting off the foreskin enhances hygiene of the male reproductive organ and that is why it is not easy to transmit some of these diseases. With the prepuce, there is a high risk of having an inflammation that can lead to the tightening and hence closure of the opening of the male organ and this can be avoided when there is circumcision. Uncircumcised men might have certain infections hidden in their prepuce, and they might end up transmitting to their partners.
As earlier highlighted, there are various circumstances that force parents to have their babies who are male to be circumcised. As a couple, you need to come together and know the reasons why your child needs to be circumcised because that is usually the decision for parents to make on behalf of the child. Therefore, you both need to think about this matter before you arrive at the conclusion.
